Corey Anderson is a left-handed batsman who can swing at mid-pace, becoming the youngest New Zealand player to secure a 16-year contract. From an early age, people were expecting great things from an all-rounder. He played in two Under 19 World Cups, one in 2008 and another, two years later.
She made her debut in the First-Class in 2007 and had to wait a while before getting her 100th girl in 2012. It was a big one again, 167 against Otago. Those innings earned him a place in the T20I team that plays against South Africa. Anderson, had a memorable start to his international career and had to wait a year to make his Test debut against Bangladesh in Chittagong.
In his second Test only, he has received a hundred full strokes not enough to win the Test as Bangladesh continues to pull it off. Anderson made his mark on the world stage when he broke Shahid Afridi's record for the fastest century in ODIs against the West Indies in Queenstown, reaching a record high of 36 balls. The knock included six fours and 14 sixs, and the record was broken after 17 years. However, South African striker AB de Villiers then extended Anderson's effort in the game against the West Indies at Wanderers.
Anderson, however, maintained his excellent form and produced an impressive knocking line against visiting Indians. The recognition he received in the two series earned him an IPL contract with the Mumbai Indians at the 2014 auction. Bought at 4.5 crores.
Anderson made a splash at the T20 WC 2014 in Bangladesh again, where he contributed with the ball and the pitch, but did not get much of a chance to hit. He also injured his finger while playing in the last league match against Sri Lanka, which did not allow him to hit and New Zealand lost in that match.
In IPL 7, Anderson, has hit the headlines with his beautiful show with bat. With Mumbai needing to chase 190 in 14.3 overs to advance to the last four, Anderson, who has been promoted to number 3 on batting, has scored 44 of 95 balls to help them close out the game. He also played the entire Test series against Pakistan in the UAE in late 2014, when he hit Ahmed Shehzad in the head with a bouncer, resulting in a broken skull. Anderson was a regular member of the New Zealand limited overs team and was named in the 2015 World Cup squad.
Anderson hosted the prestigious 2015 World Cup. He hit just 231 runs in batting, including 50 but did well with the ball, taking 14 wickets.
He injured his finger during IPL 2015 which has appeared several times since then, and as a result he has been out and about in the team.
In 2018, Anderson found a new life to revive his international career when he was appointed by the IPL Franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore to replace injured Australian player Nathan Coulter-Nile. But the Kiwi all-rounder had a season he forgot. In the 3 games he has played, Anderson has managed to hold only 17 runs and netted only 2 runs out of 115 runs in 8.4 overs. In another incident, he tasked 16 defenders in the final over at Chennai Super Kings, MS Dhoni and Dwayne Bravo rode Anderson to the park to defeat CSK. Following the defeat, New Zealander was eliminated by the RCB in the remaining matches.
To heal the wounds of the IPL, Corey has moved to the UK where he is currently playing in Somerset's T20 blast tournament.
